“Classical bows made of domestic woods? But there’s no such thing…”

Oh yes, there is!

One of my first encounters with musicians of the early music scene in Vienna was with Hiro Kurosaki, who at the time was a professor of baroque violin there. His original classical bow was/is made of very finely grown, heavy larch wood. Along with the bow I call the “Mozart bow”, this bow really opened my mind to the use of domestic woods.

Many a musician has raved about the combination of lightness with an eloquent sound and expressive articulation – you just have to experience it!
