Marin Marais is perhaps the best-known player of and composer for the viola da gamba in France. Not only did he inspire the addition of a seventh string to the instrument, but he also influenced the design of the gamba bow through his music.
With these ideas in mind, I have created this model based on various historical originals. Under tension, the stick only bends outwards, allowing for well pronounced articulation.
The distance between stick and hair at the frog can be customized to fit your needs; this consideration becomes more important the smaller your hand is, as the bow could otherwise be difficult to handle.
